Translating English to Telugu: what to know
Subject-Object-Verb Word Order Required
Telugu follows strict SOV order, unlike English SVO. 'I eat rice' becomes 'నేను అన్నం తింటాను' (I rice eat). The verb always comes last. Adjectives precede nouns, and postpositions replace prepositions. Relative clauses appear before the noun they modify. Reordering sentences is essential, not optional, for grammatical Telugu.
Verb Conjugation Shows Gender and Formality
Telugu verbs conjugate for gender, number, person, and formality level. The same English verb 'go' translates differently: 'వెళ్తాను' (I go, masculine), 'వెళ్తాను' (I go, feminine), 'వెళ్తారు' (you go, formal), 'వెళ్తావ' (you go, informal). Choose appropriate formality based on context and relationship between speakers. Gender agreement affects past tense and third-person forms significantly.
No Articles and Case Markers Essential
Telugu has no articles like 'a' or 'the'. Instead, case markers attach to nouns showing grammatical function. 'To the house' becomes 'ఇంటికి' (house + dative case). Eight cases exist: nominative, accusative, instrumental, dative, ablative, genitive, locative, vocative. English prepositions map to these case suffixes. Omitting case markers creates incomplete, ungrammatical sentences.
Respect Forms and Telugu Script Marks — Review Before Sending
Telugu grades respect in its pronouns and verb endings: మీరు is the safe form for elders, customers and strangers, నువ్వు is intimate — an English 'you' gives the machine no clue which relationship you mean, so check the form of address first. The output is Telugu script whose vowel signs and combining marks are part of the spelling (శుభోదయం — good morning — changes meaning if a mark is dropped): never strip or 'normalize' the marks, and don't rely on romanized Telugu for anything formal.

What does the confidence band under the translation mean?
After each translation, a second AI check compares the original and the translation and shows a confidence band: High confidence, Review changes, or Meaning may have changed. It's a model estimate, not a guarantee — whatever the band says, double-check names, numbers and negations in the translation. The raw judge score appears as secondary detail in the “Why?” explanation, labeled as an estimate. The check processes your text and immediately discards it; only the score is kept.
