Translating English to Urdu: what to know
Verb Placement and SOV Order
Urdu follows Subject-Object-Verb order, opposite to English SVO. The verb always comes at the end of the sentence. Auxiliary verbs and main verbs cluster together finally. For example, 'I am eating food' becomes 'Main khana kha raha hoon' (I food eating am). This affects how you structure complex sentences with multiple clauses, requiring careful reordering of all sentence elements.
Formality Through Pronoun and Verb Forms
Urdu has three levels of 'you': 'tum' (informal), 'aap' (formal/respectful), and 'tu' (very intimate/rude). Each requires different verb conjugations. English 'you' must be evaluated for context and relationship. Using wrong forms causes serious social offense. Verbs also change for gender of the subject and object, which English doesn't mark. Professional contexts almost always require 'aap' forms.
Postpositions Replace English Prepositions
Urdu uses postpositions that follow nouns, not prepositions before them. English 'in the house' becomes 'ghar mein' (house in). English 'with me' becomes 'mere saath' (my with). The noun often takes an oblique case form before the postposition. Compound postpositions are common and don't map one-to-one with English prepositions, requiring understanding of spatial and relational concepts rather than direct word substitution.
Respectful Address and Urdu Script — Review Before Sending
Urdu grades respect grammatically: آپ is the safe form for elders, customers and strangers, تم is familiar and تو is intimate — an English 'you' gives the machine no signal about the relationship, so check the form of address (and honorifics like صاحب) before sending anything formal. The output is Urdu in Nastaliq-style Arabic script, written right-to-left: dots and letter forms carry meaning, so never strip or 'normalize' the marks, and note that Urdu script is not interchangeable with Hindi's Devanagari even where the spoken sentence would be understood in both.

The raw judge score appears as secondary detail in the “Why?” explanation, labeled as an estimate. The check processes your text and immediately discards it; only the score is kept.
