What changes when you translate English into Chinese
No verb endings for tense
Chinese verbs do not change form the way English verbs do. Time is shown with words such as 明天 (míngtiān, tomorrow) or with particles such as 了 (le), which often marks a completed action: “I ate” becomes 我吃了 (wǒ chī le). Short English sentences with no time words can lose their tense, so add “yesterday” or “next week” when it matters.
Measure words between numbers and nouns
English says “a book” or “three people”. Chinese usually needs a measure word between the number and the noun: 一本书 (yì běn shū, a book) and 三个人 (sān gè rén, three people). Each noun has its usual measure word, so check these when you edit the result.
Simplified or Traditional characters
Mainland China and Singapore use Simplified characters. Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau use Traditional. “Study” is 学习 in one and 學習 in the other. Pick the script your reader uses before you translate.
Big numbers are grouped by ten thousand
Chinese counts in units of 万 (wàn, 10,000), not thousands. “One million” becomes 一百万 (yìbǎi wàn), literally a hundred ten-thousands. Double-check prices and figures in the translation.

How do I translate from English to Chinese here?

Does it write Simplified or Traditional Chinese?
Both. Use the output script selector to choose Simplified (简体), used in mainland China and Singapore, or Traditional (繁體), used in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.
How can I see the pinyin for the Chinese result?
Click Show pronunciation. An approximate pinyin romanization appears under the translation, so you can read the characters even if you are still learning them.
Why do Chinese translations seem to drop English tenses?
Chinese verbs do not change for past or future. Time comes from words like 昨天 (yesterday) or particles like 了. If the time matters, include a clear time word in your English sentence.
How long can my text be, and can I translate a document?
Each run takes up to 5,000 characters; split longer texts into parts. You can open a DOCX, ODT, RTF or TXT file, and its text goes into the editor. Formatting is not kept, and PDFs and images are not supported.
Is it safe to paste work emails or school assignments?
Your text is sent to an AI model, translated, returned and then discarded. It is not stored and not used for training.
Can I make the Chinese more polite, for example with 您 instead of 你?
Set Tone to Formal (business email) for a more respectful style, or to Casual for messages to friends. Match the original keeps the register of your English text. Show alternatives offers 2–3 other phrasings in different registers.
Can it translate Chinese back into English?
Yes. Click Swap languages to reverse the direction; your text stays in place.
Can I translate a photo or have a spoken conversation?
No. Photo translation and a live conversation mode are not available. You can use Dictate to speak your English into the input box and Read aloud to hear the Chinese result.
