What Makes Japanese Tricky to Put into English
Three scripts and no spaces
Japanese mixes kanji, hiragana and katakana and usually writes words without spaces, as in 東京に行きたい (Tōkyō ni ikitai, “I want to go to Tokyo”). Katakana often marks loanwords such as コーヒー (kōhī, “coffee”). The romaji under the result is a rough guide to the sounds, not an exact transcription.
Subjects that go unsaid
Japanese often drops the subject when context makes it clear. 明日行きます (ashita ikimasu) can mean “I’ll go tomorrow” or “We’ll go tomorrow,” but English needs a pronoun. Check who is doing what, especially in emails and chat logs.
Politeness built into verbs
One action can be plain 食べる (taberu), polite 食べます (tabemasu) or honorific 召し上がる (meshiagaru). English shows respect through word choice and phrasing instead, so set Tone to Formal (business email) or Casual to steer the English.
Particles and verb-last order
Japanese usually puts the verb at the end and marks each word’s role with a particle. In 日本語から英語 (nihongo kara eigo), から means “from.” In 日本語を英語に翻訳する, を marks the object and に the target, giving “translate Japanese into English.”

Why does the English add “I” or “you” when the Japanese doesn’t say it?
Japanese often leaves out the subject, while English sentences usually need one, so the AI has to infer it from context. Check pronouns carefully, especially in short messages where the context is thin.

You can open a DOCX, ODT, RTF or TXT file, and its text is placed in the editor for translation. The 5,000-character limit still applies, formatting is not kept, and PDFs are not supported (photos and screenshots go through the «Photo / screenshot» button), so split longer texts into parts.
