What changes when Chinese becomes Arabic
Two scripts, two directions
Chinese is written left to right in characters, with no spaces between words. Arabic runs right to left, and its letters join within a word. Short vowels are usually left unwritten. Numbers inside Arabic text still read left to right, so dates and prices need a quick look after translation.
Gender that Chinese never states
你 means “you” for anyone. 他 (he) and 她 (she) are both pronounced tā. Arabic verbs, adjectives and pronouns mark gender and number, so 你好吗 becomes كيف حالكَ to a man and كيف حالكِ to a woman. If the context is unclear, check who is being addressed.
Word count Chinese vs. Arabic
Chinese is counted in characters, not words. The same message is often much shorter in Chinese than in Arabic. Arabic attaches the article ال, the conjunction و and pronoun endings directly to words. This makes Arabic word counts hard to compare with Chinese character counts.
Measure words and names
Chinese puts a measure word between a number and a noun, as in 一本书 (one book). Arabic has no such word, so it simply says كتاب واحد or just كتاب. Chinese names are spelled out by sound, so 北京 becomes بكين.
How do I translate from Chinese to Arabic on this page?
Paste or type your Chinese text, or use Dictate. The translation appears in Arabic. You can pick a Tone and an Arabic variety before you translate, and copy the result when you are done.
Why does the Arabic sometimes use a masculine or feminine form I did not expect?
Chinese words like 你 and 她/他 do not show gender in speech, but Arabic has to choose a form. If the text does not make it clear who is meant, check the verbs and pronouns. You can also add a word of context and translate again.
How much Chinese text can I translate at once, and can I open a document?
Each run takes up to 5,000 characters. Since Chinese is dense, that covers quite a lot of text. You can open a DOCX, ODT, RTF or TXT file, and its text is placed in the editor. Formatting is not kept, and PDFs are not supported; for photos and screenshots, use the «Photo / screenshot» button.
Is it safe to translate supplier quotes or contracts here?
Your text is sent to an AI model, translated, returned and then discarded. It is not stored and not used for training. For contracts, still check names, numbers and negations yourself. The Meaning kept: check is an estimate, not a guarantee.
Can I see how the Chinese is pronounced?
Yes. Show pronunciation gives an approximate pinyin romanization of the Chinese text. You can also use Read aloud to hear the translation in a browser voice.
Can I get Egyptian or Levantine Arabic instead of Modern Standard Arabic?
Yes. The Arabic output can be Modern Standard, which is the default, or Iraqi, Levantine or Egyptian. Modern Standard suits documents and business mail. A dialect sounds more natural in chats with friends or customers.
Should I choose Formal or Casual for business messages?
Choose Formal (business email) for suppliers, clients and official letters. Use Casual for friends and quick chats. Match the original keeps the tone of your Chinese text, and Show alternatives offers other phrasings.
Can I translate Arabic back into Chinese, or read Chinese from a photo?
Press Swap languages to reverse the direction and keep your text. Chinese output is in Simplified characters. Photos are supported: use the "Photo / screenshot" button to pick, take or paste an image. The image is sent to a server only to read the text and is not stored.
Can it translate into Iraqi Arabic?
Yes. Open Options and pick the Arabic variety — Iraqi, Levantine or Egyptian — instead of Modern Standard Arabic, then translate. The choice is remembered on your device.
