Free AI tool to translate Italian to Serbian
For travellers, students, families and colleagues moving between Italy and Serbia. Serbian has no articles, seven cases and a formal Vi, so an Italian sentence often changes shape on the way. Serbian text in latinica or ćirilica is understood.

What changes when Italian becomes Serbian
Lei becomes Vi, tu becomes ti
Italian shows respect with Lei, a third-person form. Serbian uses Vi, the second-person plural, and it is often capitalized in letters and emails. So «Può aiutarmi?» becomes «Možete li mi pomoći?». Choose «Formal (business email)» under Tone for letters to offices or clients, and «Casual» for friends and family.
Articles disappear, case endings appear
Serbian has no words like il, la or un. Instead, nouns take case endings that show their role in the sentence. «In Italia» becomes «u Italiji», while «vado a Belgrado» becomes «idem u Beograd», because a destination usually takes the accusative. The same Italian noun can therefore appear with several different endings in one Serbian text.
Italian-Serbian false friends and names
Some words look alike but differ in meaning. Italian «camera» means a room, while Serbian «kamera» is a camera. Serbian «pasta» often means a paste, as in «pasta za zube», and a pasta dish is usually «testenina». Italian names are usually spelled as they sound: Giuseppe becomes Đuzepe, Firenze becomes Firenca and Venezia becomes Venecija.
How do I translate an Italian text into Serbian here?
Paste or type your Italian text in the left box, check that Serbian is the target language and start the translation. You can then pick a tone, open «Show alternatives» for other phrasings, and copy the result.
Why do Serbian words keep changing their endings?
Serbian marks a noun's role with case endings instead of articles, so «Beograd» can appear as «u Beogradu», «iz Beograda» or «u Beograd». After each translation, the «Meaning kept:» check gives a confidence estimate. Still read names, numbers and negations yourself.
How much Italian text can I translate at once, and can I open a document?
Each run takes up to 5,000 characters, so split longer texts into parts. You can open a DOCX, ODT, RTF or TXT file and its text goes into the editor. Formatting is not kept, and PDFs are not supported; for photos and screenshots, use the «Photo / screenshot» button.
Is it safe to paste a work contract or a personal letter?
Your text is sent to an AI model, translated, returned and then discarded. It is not stored and not used for training.
Can I also translate Serbian to Italian?
Yes. Click «Swap languages» and the direction reverses while your text stays in place. Serbian input in latinica or ćirilica is understood.
Will the Serbian translation be in Latin or Cyrillic script?
There is no setting to choose the output script. If you need the other alphabet, convert the result afterwards.
Should I use formal or casual Serbian for my message?
Use «Formal (business email)» for authorities, landlords or clients, which gives the polite Vi form. Use «Casual» for friends, where Serbian uses ti. «Match the original» follows the tone of your Italian text.
Can it read Serbian aloud or translate a photo of a sign?
«Read aloud» speaks the Serbian translation, and «Dictate» lets you speak Italian into the input box. Photos can be translated too: use the «Photo / screenshot» button, and the image is sent only to be read and is not stored.
