What to know about translating Hindi into Finnish

Two scripts, with different ways to mark sounds

Hindi is written from left to right in Devanagari, where vowel signs can sit around a consonant. Finnish uses the Latin alphabet. If you select Show pronunciation, the result includes an approximate Latin-letter rendering of the Hindi text. It can help with reading sounds, but it is not a replacement for the original Hindi script.

Hindi postpositions and Finnish case endings

Hindi often places a separate postposition after a noun, as in घर में (ghar meṅ, in the house). Finnish commonly expresses a similar relationship with an ending attached to the noun: talossa means in the house. The wording and structure may change in translation, so a direct word-for-word rendering can sound unnatural.

Hindi gender can affect wording

Hindi verbs and related words can change form according to grammatical gender. For example, a male speaker might say मैं आऊँगा (maiṁ āūṅgā, I will come), while a female speaker might say मैं आऊँगी (maiṁ āūṅgī). Finnish does not mark this distinction in the same way, so context may carry information that is not explicit in the Finnish wording.

How do I translate Hindi to Finnish here?

Enter or paste Hindi text, check that Finnish is selected as the target, then run the translation. You can choose a tone before translating and review the meaning check shown with the result.

What can make translation between Hindi and Finnish tricky?

Hindi often uses postpositions after nouns, while Finnish frequently uses noun endings to show similar relationships. Hindi verb forms can also reflect the speaker’s gender, a distinction Finnish does not mark in the same way.

How much text can I translate, and can I open a document?

Each run supports up to 5,000 characters. You can open a DOCX, ODT, RTF or TXT file; its text is extracted in the browser and counts toward the limit. Formatting and layout are not preserved, and PDF files are not supported.

Is text from a private Hindi message stored?

Your text is sent to an AI model for translation, then returned and discarded. It is not stored or used for training. Check names, numbers and negations yourself, since the meaning check is an estimate, not a guarantee.

Can I see a romanization of the Hindi text?

Select Show pronunciation to see an approximate Latin transliteration (IAST-like, simplified) of the Hindi text under the result. It is a reading aid, not a substitute for the original script.

Can I choose formal or casual wording?

Use Tone to choose Match the original, Formal (business email) or Casual. You can also select Show alternatives for two or three suggested phrasings that differ in register.

Can I reverse the translation direction?

Yes. Select Swap languages to reverse the direction while keeping the text. The page starts with Hindi as the source and Finnish as the target.

Can I translate a photo or have a spoken conversation?

No. Photo translation and voice conversation are not available here. You can dictate speech into the input box with Dictate, or use Read aloud to hear the translation.
